I recently tried the Color Oops Regular Strength Hair Color Remover (RS100), and I’m thrilled to share my experience with you.
My hair journey involved layers upon layers of red hair dye, and I decided it was time for a change. I chose Color Oops to help me with this transformation, and it didn’t disappoint.
First off, the application process was surprisingly easy. The instructions were clear, and the product was straightforward to use. I appreciated that there was no need for complicated mixing or multiple steps.
Now, let’s talk about the smell. Hair color removers can be notorious for their strong, unpleasant odors, but Color Oops was tolerable. While it didn’t smell like a bouquet of roses (let’s be realistic, it’s a chemical process), it was much more bearable than I expected.
But what truly matters is the result, right? Color Oops worked wonders on my layered red hair. It effectively removed the built-up color, leaving my hair ready for a fresh start. The end result was satisfying and gave me the blank canvas I needed for my next hair color adventure.
In conclusion, Color Oops RS100 is a reliable choice if you’re looking to remove hair color, even if you’ve piled on the layers. The application is straightforward, the smell is manageable, and the results are impressive. Give it a try if you’re ready for a hair color transformation!

I had dyed my hair MULTIPLE times with SPLAT crimson red hair dye, which is notorious because it’s SO hard to get out. I didn’t even have to use all the bottle and it lightened my hair so much, now it’s ready to be dyed again to a different color! If you’re looking for something to take you back to your natural hair color without having to dye again, I’m not sure if this is the product for you, but then again it may be because I had used such a harsh previous dye. The remover didn’t itch, burn, nothing of that sort, absolutely perfect, so worth your money!!!

Es fabuloso el producto, lo aplique tal como lo dice el instructivo, lo tenía negro y me lo coloco rojo, ahora me toca matar el color rojo, pero quita el color muy rápido. No daño mi cabello. Gracias

Hey, man, it did what it said it would. Color oops took away the top 1 or 2 layers of box dye in my hair (anymore layers of dye would probably take a second processing). I used a comb during application and blobs of old black dye were already lifting onto the comb. Two notes though:
1. I would not suggest doing this on very damaged hair. Not only are the chemicals strong but the instructions require you to shampoo your hair at least 3-4 times in the final rinse to remove all product. My healthy hair could barely take it. Just get a professional because the hassle would not be worth the results.
2. It really does stink and it LINGERS. It basically smells like stale, next-day beer breath. My dad could smell it in the house and got self conscious and brushed his teeth/did a load of laundry thinking something was mildewy. The next day the smell transforms into piss and wet sheep’s wool. This is all after showering with the windows open (sorry neighbors) and removing all product/towels. Just know that you’ll need to thoroughly clean your shower after use and possibly use some Drano.
None of this sounds very positive but really it works. You will most likely need a toner afterwards, though.

FYI: reds & dark brown – honestly go to a salon. if that is out – get 2 kits & protein conditioner
Sitch: Keratin Perm hair color deposits 2x the pigment of many boxed color.
Simply Color is my preferred box color & was bummed that my hair looked like Wednesday Adam’s hair.
Tried vinegar and vitamin C sep as a home remedy – which did help. But I will prob use a shampoo / 20 vol mix & save some time or go to the salon.

no bleach or ammonia, didn’t smell horrid, called the Schwarzcoff stylist took time to educate & set my expectations.
Clear directions which I followed to the tee. Even for my very long hair – 1 bottle was plenty. It didn’t seem to damage – but hair is dry even after 4 hair masques
Dislikes:
the time it takes from start to finish – read the directions. In and out of the shower – groan. You will not be pleased with how your hair feels during process but not to worry. It would have made sense to include a protein conditioner. The price point in most places would suggest it.

Waited a day to color / oops lifted a lot of color by maybe 2 levels. The stylist I go up a couple of levels – like some 6-7 level color. I used my reg 4.68 color & jokes on me … is still pretty dark by washing and rinsing early. Dawn dishwashing soap or a cream bleach may be another science experiment !
GOOD LUCK & MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR.

This works, but the rinsing time was absolutely boring. This was exactly how I used the product: I showered using only shampoo 24 hours prior. Applied 2 boxes of Color Oops, let sit for 20 mins, rinse like 30 seconds before applying shampoo (Sauve Almond and Shea Butter), quickly worked into a lather then 17 min rinsing. I then used shampoo every 5 mins for the next 15 mins. For good measure I rinsed 3 more mins before using Color Oops Reconstructor conditioner + Sauve Biotin Infusion. I let that sit for 11 min before rinsing 2 mins. Done. So the smell? It is ok, not as bad as every one made it out to be. Yes the next day my hair still has a faint smell similar to sulfur, and my bathroom is like a punch of sulfur eggs. My hair tolerated the product well (you can see how much hair I lost during the process which wasnt as bad as I thought). My hair definitely has some frizz now, and feels dry. I will be applying the Sauce brand Guacamole Whip Deep Moisture Hair Mask in the next two days to help put some moisture back in.

Yes, rinsing for 35mins is needed and the product does what it says. I’m natural brunette and dyed my hair 577cooper(permanent, no ammonia) last time 4 months ago prior Color oops and managed to take it off. Be careful of your clothes and towel you use to cover yourself. I’ve removed black fabric colour from my custom sweater and removed dye from towel while applying. I used shampoo and conditioner shown after, in addition to some leave in, argan oil and my hair was nice and silky.

I had dyed my hair burgundy a while back and it had faded to a kind of pinky-red. I wanted to transition to a blue-based color. Typically, I bleach my hair over the color and it works just fine, but this time my bleach test was a little rough so I decided to try Color Oops for the first time. I wish I’d just stuck with the bleach.
The Color Oops worked, my hair is back to looking as if the red was never there, however it came with a steep price. First, the instructions are to rinse your hair, wash with shampoo, then rinse for 15-20 minutes, shampoo again, rinse for 5 minutes, shampoo for a third time, then rinse another 5 minutes before applying conditioner. I was in the shower for nearly 45 minutes.
Two days after using it, my bathroom (and attached bedroom) still smell strongly of the chemicals, despite opening the window and running an air purifier for nearly 36 hours plus two liberal rounds of Febreeze spray. I could even smell it on my hands despite wearing the provided gloves.
While washing it out, my hair felt very brittle and rough. Thankfully this has subsided but I was actually pretty nervous for a while about the texture. Also, while washing I noticed two small chunks that had turned green. This has also thankfully gone away.
Last, I ordered the listing that said “2-Count” but only received one of the product. In the end though, I’m thankful for that in a way because I can’t see myself ever using Color Oops again.
Edit a few months later: I’ve knocked it down from 3 to 1 star because I believe Color Oops contributed to the failure of my next hair dye. I used the same brand I’ve been using off and on for a decade and had my first bad experience with it. I waited a few days after using the Color Oops even though the box boasts that you can recolor the same day. The color came out uneven and extremely light. After a couple weeks of being increasingly annoyed and disappointed, I decided to just do my normal routine of bleaching the color out then dying the next day. I did the same color again and it came out ten times better. I can’t completely prove it was related to the Color Oops but the coincidence is too strong for me.
